VIDEO: President Obama at ND: "Let's Draft a Sensible Conscience Clause"

This is a cut-up I made of some ND-Obama speech footage. While I was joining with thousands of Catholics at the Grotto at Notre Dame on May 17th, 2009, President Obama was in the Joyce Center making the following promise:

  1. Let's "draft a sensible conscience clause".

Technically he didn't completely lie. As editor-and-chief he reviewed "the draft" and then remembering that Catholics voted him into office (53%) and took that as a license to be an anti-pope and use a principal of tyranny to edit out "conscience". He's just showing his true colors finally. This is good since he's just declared war on the Catholic Church and that means he is now going against God. We already know that the gates of hell can't prevail against Christ's Church.

It's also time for The Church to ditch its tax-exempt status and start demanding that Catholic vote their faith or stop pretending to be Catholics.

  3. Point well made Father. Great video! And I could not agree more with Jim's idea that we ditch our tax-exempt status if that is what's holding back the Church from speaking the clear truth.

  4. The tax-exempt issue is a red herring. Two weeks prior to 2008 election, the Bishops of Dallas and Ft. Worth had a letter read at all in the two diocese advising the Faithful that it would be morally reprehensible to vote for a pro-choice candidate. The next day there were people outside the offices for the two dioceses protesting the letter. Unfortunately, the organizers were from the Parish I was then attending. When I discussed with the Assoc. Pastor I commented that it was akin to students protesting a math teacher because he keeps telling them that 2+3=5.

As far as I'm concerned (and believe me it saddens and hurts me to say it) almost all of the Catholics who voted for Obama in 2008 didn't give two hoots about abortion. It was very clear that Obama fully supported the death cult (abortion) agenda, yet those Catholics went out of their way to ignore his record. The poster-boy for this crowd was Doug Kmiec - where is he now? And sadly, I suspect that many of them will again vote for him in 2012.

This is going to take a lot of prayer, fasting and pennance before this turns around.

    1. Kevin,

Amen! I did see yesterday that Kmiec issued a letter condemning the decision in pretty strong language - sometimes it takes being made a fool of in a very public manner to wake up some of those who were so outspoken for the President in '08

  5. Father,

I read Kmiec's letter right after I posted here. Two thoughts came to mind:

    1. Kmiec sounds like a battered wife trying to reconcile with her abusive husband. I think it would have been much be if Kmiec used some of the proceeds from his book and publish in the NYT an apology to the American Bishops and the Catholics he led astray in 2008.

    2. I am reminded of the line from "A Man for All Seasons": Why Richard, it profits a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world... but for Wales? For Kmiec I always replace Wales with Malta.
