So how does that work if somebody is excommunicated? Do they get a letter from the Bishop stating so? Or, are they to appear before the Bishop so he can give them the bad news personally? Also, if one is excommunicated, can they be un-excommunicated or is it a permanent deal where they are not to be a Catholic anymore and are condemned to hell by the Church? Just curious how that works.
