Beautiful Explanation of the Bruce Jenner Situation

  1. Nothing more thoroughly disgusting than watching an unqualified priest pretend he's qualified to speak about a MEDICAL problem like gender identity disorder. His simpleton diagnosis is not only completely ridiculous, but evil and dangerous.

Scientific evidence suggests that people who identify with a gender different from the one they were assigned at birth, may do so not just due to psychological or behavioral causes, but also BIOLOGICAL ones related to their genetics, the makeup of their brains, or prenatal exposure to hormones. G I D is a MEDICAL problem just like any other medical problem, and is one that needs to be taken care of by a qualified medical expert , not someone who deals with voodoo.

Unless you can walk in someone else's shoes don't presume to have all the answers. Unless you're a medical doctor, clinical psychologist, or a psychiatrist , don't even think of diagnosing people. Medical doctors and psychological experts are the ONLY one's who can diagnose and treat G I D patients.

As for their everyday lives, transgender people are the only one's who can speak for themselves and what they suffer.

Furthermore your attempt to take away LGBT civil rights is not only unseemly , but hypocritical considering that you belong to an organization that criminally managed to hide pedophile priests. You lost your respect for moral authority when you decided to be part of a corrupt, criminal organization.

Your attempt to deny LGBT people the basic rights that every tax paying American citizen is afforded has failed miserably, and rightfully so. You have no authority in public policy, in fact, you don't even have it concerning God.

  2. Interesting video. So let's say that Bruce Jenner, AKA Caitlyn Jenner, was Catholic, and was passing through your town on a Sunday morning, Fr. Hollowell, and stopped by your church for Mass, and presented himself for Communion, would you give him communion? Or would you deny him? Also, why is this priest wearing a wedding ring?!?!? I thought priests were celibate?

  3. What is the official teaching of the Church on transsexual people? Is it a sin to be transsexual? If so , where does it say so in the Bible ? The Catechism?

This priest uses the word "transgender". I usually heard transsexual when referring to Bruce (or Caitlyn) so what's the difference and are they both a sin? Thanks !

    1. There is no doctrine concerning people with Gender Dysphoria . The condition formerly called "Gender Identity Disorder" , is no longer considered a mental illness but a medical condition by the DSM5, one that is fully treatable in most cases.

Although there are many unsubstantiated opinions given on the subject from both the faithful and clergy, the official Church is silent on concerning this condition, and I therefore suggest we remain silent about it as well.

  4. Good response. The other response is Rachel Dolezal which seems to be displacing the circus surrounding Mr.Jenner.

  6. I'm fascinated by this and never knew it existed until Caitlyn. I looked up transsexualism and it's a very legitimate medical condition. In layman's terms, the person has the brain of a female (for various reasons to long to mention here) but the body of a male. When a person undergoes transition and the full transition is completed there's a very high success rate. People mistakenly think that it's a form of homosexuality, but I read that it hasn't anything to do with sexual orientation, as evidenced by the fact that the majority of male to female transsexuals are attracted to women not men. Many are married to women and some even remain married to those women after transition.
Fr Schmitz mentioned Dr McHugh, who's 84 and retired. I saw his findings, but the vast majority of medical information and doctors I found do not support his conclusions . In cases like this, I usually side with overwhelming consensus rather than the few who disagree with that consensus for various reasons , usually religious. I personally feel that's an injustice to the medical condition , the person living it, and his/her suffering.
What does the Catholic Church say about this in an official capacity? I asked a few priests and I got different answers. A few said it isn't sinful because it's considered a medical condition and is treated as such in the eyes of the Church. A couple said it is sinful. And a couple said they have no idea as the Church has never made a definitive statement on it. I also did my own research and I haven't found any clear teaching on this either, like we have for homosexuality.
Do you know ? If so can you tell me where I can find accurate and definitive information on Church teaching concerning the specific medical condition of transsexualism? I'm not looking for your opinion on it as those other priest's gave me, but definitive Church teaching and/or doctrine, if any.
Thank you so much and I love your blog !

    1. You will notice that Fr Schmitz said in the video he's "not judging" and that he's not saying "it's evil"

In other words, the Church has no doctrine concerning this condition and is therefore silent. We should remain silent on it too, especially if one's opinion is medically uninformed and is based purely on personal feelings and prejudice.

As a devout Catholic, I suggest that the best we can do to help them is to pray for them. Pray that they have the support they need, and that they use the advances of medical science to help them live a happy life.
