Awesome Religious Liberty Homily

  1. All this bishop is doing is basically whining. Wonder what he is doing to help people who are gay on a personal level to ensure that they are(and stay) on the correct path to salvation? Does he run, help, encourage, fund, volunteer, teach, or pray for a COURAGE group? Does he offer any assistance whatsoever to gay people? He complains about the definition of marriage being changed but probably does nothing of the above I mentioned. THAT'S HOW MOST PRIESTS OPERATE. I'm so sick and tired of hearing priests complain about gay people from the pulpit and other places yet offer nothing to solve the problem. I bet my bottom dollar that if I would walk into his office wanting help with my SSA, he would tell me to take a hike as he don't have the time.

  2. anonymous, it's unfortunate that your certainty as to how most priests operate prevents your from giving them the benefit of the doubt. I'm curious how many priests you've heard complain about gay people from the pulpit or elsewhere - or how often - so that you have become sick of it. I attend mass regularly and can count on one hand the number of times I've heard homosexuality addressed on the pulpit, and i go to a fairly conservative parish most of the time. And to be fair, I don't know if you walked into any bishop's office and wanted help with any issue that he would have the time to address the issue personally at the drop of a hat.

  3. Anonymous, my heart is saddened to hear you make those accusations about this Bishop. :(
If it comes from you having that experience, I'm so sorry for you. Please know that even priests and Bishops are human... there IS someone who can help you if you want it. Pray and seek. And I'm sure Fr. Hollowell can direct you to someone you can talk to or get help from.
