88 pro life demonstrators finally had the trespassing charges against them dropped. The charges were filed against the 88 individuals when they entered Notre Dame's campus to protest President Obama speaking at the University's graduation ceremony in 2009. The full story can be read by clicking here. If Notre Dame had asked for leniency for the 88, legal experts unanimously believe that the charges would have been dropped long ago, but Notre Dame refused.
As a deacon, I was also on campus during the commencement, and I heard speeches from Notre Dame priests blasting president Jenkins' decision, and I prayed a rosary at the grotto for all of our Catholic universities; it was a day I'll never forget as a Catholic. What a sad day for Catholicism in America!
Below is video of one of the "Notre Dame 88" getting arrested - who would have thought a priest would get arrested while praying on the campus of a Catholic University?
More about the state of Catholic Universities in America to come!
Living in the Diocese of Phoenix, we're still suffering from the vehicular homicide by our former Bishop (O'Brian), sexual abuse of boys by homosexual and pedophile priests, a new Bishop that is over-bearing and dogmatic, and new revelations of more sexual abuse of priests. Now we have to deal with the Bishop declaring that Holy Communion will only be offered to the faithful in the form of bread(the Body of Christ), and we're all suppose to great the new liturgy of the Mass that reflects the new "what?". I think that the Catholic Phoenix diocese has just run off another couple to a neighboring Christian Church.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what the comment above is about. What in the original post has anything to do with Phoenix? If you are lamenting Phoenix's decision on the Precious Blood, then you'll get no sympathy here - the Catholic Church has rules to follow, and for those who can't follow them and want to follow their own, then it makes sense why someone would leave. Just don't blame it on other people like bad bishops or priests or whoever else. You ought to simply own your grievances as the reason for your leaving.
