Masses for November 21st and 22nd

Well, the Raiders fell in a hard fought game against Monrovia, so I now have the opportunity to post on here again. It was a good season, but I'm looking forward to having time to read again and catch up with people I've been away from for a while.

This weekend at Malachy, I have the 5:30 on Saturday and the 8:00 am Mass although I am preaching neither Mass.

Weekend of August 15-16th

Sorry for the late publish! Internet has been down at the rectory and we just started school at Ritter on Friday. I'm still moving into my office so please pray for me!

This weekend at Malachy I will be at all the Masses and I will be preaching all but one of the Masses. (5:30 Sat. night, and on Sun. mornings 8, 10, and 12 noon). The 12 noon Mass will be Fr. Joe's installation as pastor, so Fr. Giannini will be the preacher that day, and I will be a lowly concelebrant!

Two of My Favorites From Pope Benedict

"It is not the task of the state to create mankind's happiness, nor is it the task of the state to create new men. It is not the task of the state to change the world into a paradise - nor can it do so. If it tries, it abandons its own boundaries and posits itself as something absolute. It behaves as if it were God, and, as the Revelation of John shows, this makes it the beast from the abyss, the power of the Antichrist."
- Values in a Time of Upheaval , pg. 59

"To an increasing degree people are seeing through the banality and the childish rationalism of the pathetic home-made liturgies with their artificial theatrics; it is becoming obvious how trivial they are."
- Sing A New Song for the Lord, pg. 39

How About that Dialogue President Jenkins!!

President Obama, after pondering over all of the pro-life messages he received at Notre Dame during his dialogue-intensive visit, has decided to go ahead and try and quickly pass the most rediculous pro-abortion legislation ever to hit the house floor (under the guise of health care reform). "Let's not reduce each other to carricature and let's find common ground," the President reminded the nation's Catholics when introducing health-care reform similar to FOCA.

President Obama and President Jenkins also issued a joint statement reminding the bishops of the country that, "We can find common ground if we keep talking. We agree on a lot. Let's celebrate that common ground, and hope the rest goes away unnoticed!"

Notre Dame plans to invite Kim Jong Il and Iran's President Ahmenijab to campus next year for the second annual "Common Ground Festival."
