There is so much music out the...Amen, Father John! There is so much music out there being used during the sacred liturgy that absolutely has no place in it. Then you have songs approved and published that make you wonder why, such as "All Are Welcome." When one reads the Guidelines for the Reception of Holy Communion ("Because Catholics believe that the celebration of the Eucharist is a sign of the reality of the oneness of faith, life, and worship, members of those churches with whom we are not yet fully united are ordinarily not admitted to Holy Communion" ), it is clear that all are, in fact, NOT welcome.

I am one of those who has been fighting the Sacred Music battle for years (of course I'm on the "let's not abandon our tradition" side) and I try to model appropriate music in my own music ministry. I have my own copy of the St. Michael Hymnal (given to me by one of its editors) and would love for our parish to purchase it someday. It will be most interesting to see how the publishers react once the newly-approved liturigcal texts are set to new music, or adapted to existing settings.Tom Nicholshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14506738860701700733noreply@blogger.com
