Wow! So..."Hearts hardened by routine.." Wow! So true. I had an ephphany yesterday about that concept, not in those same words as you put it, but the gist was the same nevertheless. I realized my dependency on doing thnigs according to a set pattern in order to get me through the day...what a deceit! The routine becomes your god and you end up committing the sin of idolatry. I don't know if you've ever read "The Sacrament of the Present Moment," by Jean-Pierre De Caussade, but that has helped me see the infinite, moment by moment, works of God in my life that I would otherwise overlook based on my idolatrous worship of the routine. May God continue to command us to "Rejoice!" so he can break through that worhtless crust of self-sufficiency that we build around us!
